I’m Graham, a landscape and wildlife photographer based in Pendle which is in East Lancashire. Here’s how it started.

I guess I’ve always loved the outdoors. I was the kid who woke up, grabbed his football and stayed out until tea time. Then the young man who played amateur football, and later the middle-aged man who discovered running, and then ultra running. It’s always been in me to get outside and enjoy the fresh air.

In my mid-40s, with my football days over and a bit of extra weight, I started walking and hiking, and I was soon addicted to climbing hills and mountains in the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. The views were stunning. I was a grump all the way up, but it was worth it when I sat at the top and looked around at a little piece of heaven. The more I saw, the more I wanted, and that’s where my photography journey began.

I started with photos from my phone and soon realised I needed something better. I bought a bridge camera, a Panasonic DMC-FZ38, and I saw a huge difference in quality straight away. I seemed to have a knack for composition, and as I started posting online, people began commenting on how good the photographs were. That fuelled my passion even more, and I was hooked.

Now I get out at every opportunity, whether it’s on a walk with my very patient and understanding wife Linda, on one of my e-bike rides, or just on my own working on a new project.

My eyes are always open and my camera is always at hand, as I try to capture as much of this amazing world as I can.

It’s amazing what the great outdoors can do for your own health and well-being. Not every day is a good day but there’s always tomorrow and there’s always a view that will lift the weight from my shoulders.
